Emmanuel has a Seminarian!

A part of every seminary formation is the joy of field placement. In a field placement, a seminarian gets to explore parish ministry while continuing regular studies in theology, Scripture, liturgy, and ecclesiology. In the whirlwind of academia, field placement offers an opportunity of practical experience and relational connection.

For me, my field placement was at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia. It was there I learned how to navigate change in a church, build relationships among parishioners, and find my preaching voice. The people of St. Aidian’s welcomed me, challenged me, and help developed me into the pastor I would become. I will always be grateful for the role they played in my formation.

Beginning this month, Emmanuel will host its own seminarian! Jeremy Fiebig is a candidate for Holy Orders from the Diocese of East Carolina and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific through its hybrid learning program.

Jeremy’s vocational life is rooted in ministry, formation, and community building, shaped by a long professional career in the arts and higher education. He holds an MFA and M.Litt in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature in Performance with a Directing Emphasis from Mary Baldwin College and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from UNC Wilmington, where he focused on trauma, healing, and the human condition. Professionally, he has worked as a director, producer, and actor, and he is an avid traveler.

Jeremy is married to Nan, and they are the proud parents of Elliott and Owen, along with their dog, Sandy

I am excited to have Jeremy joining us for this programmatic year. At Emmanuel, he will have the opportunity to observe and practice the various dimensions of parish ministry. You will see him often at worship, participating in committee meetings, and leading formation opportunities.

It is my hope that we will welcome Jeremy, challenge him, and help form him into the minister God is calling him to be. And perhaps, as we accompany him in his formation, we will find ourselves learning and growing along the way too!
