Emmanuel strives to live into the expressed wishes of parishioners who have entrusted Emmanuel with their legacy. The Vestry and Finance Committee have worked diligently in their review of the planned uses for the gifts entrusted to us. Emmanuel is entrusted with twelve permanent endowments. These gifts can be summarized into the four categories below:

Also known as a charitable IRA rollover, the QCD allows a donor to instruct an IRA administrator tot send gifts directly to the church. If done correctly, QCDs care not reported as income on the donor’s tax return, thereby avoiding the tax liability of a traditional distribution, while still qualifying as a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).

By transferring the appreciated stock held for more than one year directly to the Church rather than liquidating the stock first and donating the proceeds, the donor avoids paying capital gains tax on the sale of the appreciated stock. Te donor is ten able to take 100% of the Fair Market Value of the stock at the time it is received by the Church as a charitable donation deduction (for federal filers itemizing deductions).
