Table Talk: Exploring Mealtime Stories In Scripture And Worship

Join us as we examine the importance of hospitality as a major religious imperative of  the Hebrews as we explore mealtime stories of the Old Testament. Then we will delve into how that hospitality has impacted and our worship, making the Eucharist the major act of our worship today.  Scripture, meditation and discussion will culminate in a creative exercise, opening our hearts to consider who we might need or want to invite to the Table. (All supplies provided; no artistic talent  necessary or required! ) Table Talk will be facilitated by the Rev. Dr. Linda Privatera, Associate Priest for Theology and The Arts St. John’s Cathedral, Jacksonville, Florida.

Please bring the following:
1- a bag lunch (beverages and dessert provided)
2- a favorite kitchen gadget
3- a sense of curiosity!

Adult Formation: Paul Reconsidered

Join us through the month of March as Fr. John Jacobs leads an adult formation class that will reconsider Paul’s teachings and how they are relevant to many issues found in today’s world.

March 1: Paul and Women in the Church

March 8: Paul and Women in the Home

March 15: Paul and Human Sexuality

March 22: Paul on Slavery

March 29: Paul on Church and State

“For all those who have considered Paul as an excuse to think so much of what he wrote as irrelevant to the issues of today - the role of women in the church and home; human sexuality, slavery, and church and state - I would ask you to reconsider this apostle, correspondent and martyr as an advocate for all of us - everyone for whom Christ died. Please join me, Fr. John, appearing on behalf of Paul at 9:10am in the Parish Hall through March.” - Fr. John Jacobs

Spring Small Group Registration

Register Here: https://onrealm.org/emmanuelparish/PublicRegistrations/Event?linkString=NDEwZDBlNjgtZTEzMy00NTk3LWI5NmMtYjNmNjAwZjdkM2Vm

This spring, you are invited to join a five-session Small Group Series centered on Parker Palmer’s videos A Hidden Wholeness, Practicing Hospitality, Grace and Hope in Divided Times. These Small Groups will invite you into a journey toward deeper connection with God, yourself and others. These sessions explore themes of hospitality, grace and hope as pathways to wholeness in our lives, which is increasingly important in a world often marked by division and fear.

Registration is open from February 21–March 8. Groups will meet five times between March and May.

On the registration form, you will indicate whether you prefer to meet in the evening or during the day. You will be placed in a group to meet your preference. After that, the group will decide its own meeting dates and times so that individual schedules are accommodated. This approach allows groups to adapt to the busy schedules of work, school, spring break, and commitments of Holy Week and Easter.

Small Groups are designed to be both meaningful and flexible. Our hope is that these gatherings will offer a welcome space for prayerful conversation and mutual support.
