More details from Bob Howell on  how to sign up for Zoom, download conferencing software, and join a meeting:

• The website link: https://zoom.us/
• If you are using a smart device you can download the app from your favorite app store.
• If you've never registered for Zoom before, click on the Sign Up, It's Free button at the upper-right corner of the screen.
• Enter your email address. (They say "work email," but your home address will work.)
• Go through the familiar routine of confirming that your a human being rather then a robot, choosing a password, receiving and replying to a confirmation email from Zoom, etc. (I can't retrace all these steps from memory, but it's pretty straightforward.)
• Download and install the software. (Again, a fairly clear process.)
• A few minutes before the time of the meeting, go back to the main Zoom page and click on the Join a Meeting button at the top of the screen.
• Follow the prompts to enter the meeting ID and password, and any subsequent instructions that appear on screen. There are icons at the bottom-left corner of the Zoom window for turning on and off your computer's camera and microphone. 
• Prepare to be patient as we tiptoe and stumble our way through this new online experience!
