Pastoral Care
Members of the Pastoral Care Commission are a group of wonderful Emmanuel people ready and able to help out in times of need. These folks can bring a casserole in times of illness or disability, drive you to an appointment or to the store, sit with an ill loved one in order to give respite to the care-giver or just be a friend to sit and talk with.
The following Committees are an element of the Pastoral Care Commission.

Bakers provide goodies for coffee hour/ Adult Forum, committee meetings, special events, troops, homebound, Muffins for Mom, and the annual "Sweet Lew and the Jayhawks" concerts.

Care Givers is a faithful group who meet every Wednesday morning at 9:00 in the Library to write notes and cards to those in need of encouragement and love. Recipients are the home-bound, the ill, the bereaved -- in short, anyone in need of a loving gesture. Cards are written weekly and for holidays such as Christmas and Easter. We welcome all, whether you come just once, occasionally, or regularly.

On the first Monday of each month at 10:00 AM a group of dedicated cooks meets to make and freeze casseroles which are then delivered as needed to our sick, our shut ins, and our bereaved.
Come once, come often, come whenever you can. Join in our fellowship while performing an important ministry.
We deliver monthly to parishioners in need.
We welcome you to just arrive at the regular meeting time and jump right in to assisting in the ministry or you may contact Deacon Tally at the church for more information (692-3171).
Daughters of the King is a religious order in which each Daughter takes a vow to live by the Rule of the Order. Our Rule of Life requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service and evangelism. The prayer list is confidential for those that wish it. Women who are interested in joining must participate in a three-month study. For further information, call the Co-President Melissa Cowherd, at 692-1137.
We normally meet on a monthly basis.

Each week those of our Emmanuel family and friends who, for some reason, cannot attend church regularly, receive a packet from Emmanuel called "Home Touch." In it they find a message from us, the week's Church Bulletin, and some activity pages. We want them to know how much they mean to us and that they are always in our hearts even when we don't see them.
Following is a message included in a recent Home Touch packet:"Friends are much on the mind these days. It could be the uncertainty of our times, it could be the sweet spring of the year, or it could be the longing for a world where family and friends are always close by. Friends lighten our burdens and brighten our days. They love us when we're lovable and when we're not. They're there for us and we're there for them.
We call Jesus many things. He is our Savior, our Redeemer, our Wonderful Counselor, our Lord, the Prince of Peace. But we don't call him friend very often, maybe because we feel it's not a grand enough name. But He is our friend. Long after we've worn out our welcome with one too many midnight phone calls to other friends, we can call on Him. Night after long night, He is there for us, willing to listen, to comfort us, to love us and to guide us. Oftentimes He is our only hope in a world turned upside down by isolation, loss or death. He is and always will be our best friend."
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped." Psalm 28:7
The Knit-Wits as they are affectionately called are a group of Emmanuel parishioners who meet in the Library the first Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. They knit, chat and generally have a great time making shawls, lap robes and "chemocaps." These beautiful items are then taken to people who are in need of a hug, a little TLC, and the warmth that only something hand-made with love can bring them. Many parishioners, their friends and families have received a shawl or lap robe from the Knit-Wits.
We normally meet on an as needed basis. Please contact Melissa Cowherd.
