Month of September Coalition Event: Spaghetti & Sauce in September! The Community Outreach Commission is sponsoring a Spaghetti and Sauce drive in September - for the benefit of the Sandhills Coalition for Human Care. Pick up some spaghetti and sauce while you do your grocery shopping and drop them in the collection bins located in the Parish Hall foyer and in the narthex. Thank you for your continuing help and support of the Coalition!
September 5 - A Chance to Meet the New Staff The Emmanuel family will have the chance to meet the newest additions to the parish staff with a welcoming reception this Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 10:10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. This reception will take the place of Adult Formation. Please drop by to say hello and introduce yourself to Dr. Homer Ferguson, our new Organist/Choirmaster; his wife, Amanda; and Joseph Payne, our new Youth Pastor. We hope to see you there!
- Youth Group Pool Party The Emmanuel Youth Group will kick off the year with a Pool Party at the Elks Club on Sunday, September 5th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Students in grades 6-12 are invited to attend. The cost is $5.00 per person. Please email Meaghan to let her know that you will attend!
September 6 - Office will be closed for Labor Day.
September 11 - Yoga for Athletes. Led by Instructor Dawn Harris and will be from Noon- 1:00 p.m. (PH)
September 18 - Sweet Lew and the Jayhawks-September 18th! On Saturday, September 18th, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Weather
Permitting, Emmanuel will host an Outdoor Evening Festival of Music, Food
and Fellowship featuring Father John's Sweet Lew and the Jayhawks. The event
will be held on the Episcopal Day School's grassy field, so bring your lawn
chairs, blankets, appetites and dancing shoes and get ready to kickoff the
fall with a rompin' Emmanuel good time.
We will accept donations and kick off the Stop Hunger Now campaign taking
place the next morning, September 19th in the Parish Hall!
The yummy main BBQ dish will be provided; we ask that you bring a dish to
share: Last names beginning with A - M should bring a dessert; N - Z should
bring a side dish.
Tickets are $5 per person and $20 per family. They can be purchased in the
parish office during the week. On Sunday, September 5 and 12, they will be
available outside the Parish Hall during Adult Formation. Childcare services
will be provided in the Emmanuel Nursery with advanced registration in the
parish office by Tuesday, September 14th. The cost is $10 per child.
Volunteers are needed! If you or someone you know would like to help with
set-up, bartending, kitchen and/or clean-up, please contact Brit Lusa (910-757-0075)
September 19 - Stop Hunger Now is coming to Emmanuel on Sunday, September 19, during our church services from 9:00 a.m. to Noon! Please plan to be involved. Stop Hunger Now is a Raleigh-based international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 11 years. Since 1998, the organization has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world. Please plan to come and help! You can either donate money or come and help fill plastic bags with a nourishing food mixture or both. Please make checks payable to Emmanuel and write Stop Hunger Now on the memo line. Thank you!
